Being a Leo and all, I just had to check this out. I ranked 44th and my ego gets 342 points. What all that means, I have no idea.

But, being slightly vain and terminally competitive, I think I need to post more often to get those numbers rising. =:0

i ranked 1st and got 2115 ego points with my full name and without my middle name, i ranked 2nd and 3rd (is that possible?) and got 2614 ego points. i used blogspot.com as my domain on both tries. i think it’s how you list yourself. if i use my regular blog url, i am nowhere too. if i use http://www.uiowa.edu as my doman, then i am ranked 6th, 39th, 40th, and 41st and have 2983 ego points. stick in http://www.stanford.edu, and i get 4th, 5th, and 42nd and 2784 ego points. if i use http://www.carlagirl.net, i am ranked 19th and 20th and get 2295 ego points.

i have no idea what any of this means. i’m with kelly on that!

All those numbers remind me of the “New Math” the schools pushed on us in the early seventies. At least theses stats didn’t involve a train traveling from Buffalo to Denver under a Full Moon at 90 mph with the conductor eating half of his sandwich in Chicago!

Those word problems always gave me existential angst. Hence my pathetic math SAT scores…

I was also nowhere. Son of a bitch!

Kelly, I am also slightly vain and terminally competitive so I’m with you in getting those numbers up even though I have no idea what the hell these #s mean.

  • CARLAGIRL PHOTO was founded on 14 February 1999 by Carla Willliams, a photographer, writer, and editor, born, raised and heading back to (yea!) Los Angeles, California.

It was established with two goals: to be able to make my own work widely available for free, and to make accessible my research about artists of the African Diaspora, especially photographers, and in particular women. As it developed it grew to also include GLBTQ artists.

Site visitors will probably notice that I haven’t updated here frequently. I am taking a break from my site(s) for at least the summer. I’ve been working in this field for 25 years and I’m burned out on photography and art, the site(s) are in need of major updates/ revamping/ retooling, social media is exhausting, [...] […]

Danielle was briefly a contributor to this site; I am very excited to hear about her latest venture, the collective and now journal Mambu Badu “that seek to find, expose, and nurture emerging female photographers of African descent.”  Congrats, Danielle! As you may (or may not) know, last fall, I co-founded Mambu Badu, a photography collective […]
