Elisabeth Sunday

ARTIST RECEPTION THURSDAY MAY 7, 6 to 9pm

Africa VI: The Taureg Portfolios, 2005 – 2009

Elisabeth Sunday’s recent Africa VI Portfolio contains dramatic figurative portraits of the nomadic Tuareg from the Sahara Desert in Northern Mali. The elongated, often windswept veiled figures are taken through a reflective mirror that releases a sense of spirit, mystery and connectedness to the forces of the winds that blow over the dunes. Her toned, black and white photographs capture an essence of a people who have lived in the desert for thousands of years.
