ARTISTS OF COLOR!
Join us in Watts on Sunday, August 16th for
“A GREAT DAY IN WATTS”
an event to photograph a show of unity amongst all artists of color.
On August 16th we will create a photographic document in the tradition of a “Great Day in Harlem”, the photograph taken by Bert Stern in the 50’s and “The Big Shoot” taken by Bob Douglas 10 years ago in which 130 African American Artists from all over California, Led by Joseph Beckles came together. This Year, the 44th anniversary of the Watts Revolt and the first year of the Presidency of Barack Obama, this historic photo will demonstrate the ongoing willingness of visual artists, musicians, writers, poets, dancers, storytellers, film makers, photographers and all manner of creative individuals of color to continue working in unison.
