I received an email about this
Banana Republic and Vanity Fair present Project:Involve City Stories, a series of short films inspired by the French New Wave cinema aesthetic of the Banana Republic Fall 2009 campaign.
View the work of 40 independent filmmakers, cast your vote for your favorite short, and enter for your chance to win a $1,000 Banana Republic Giftcard.
so I went to the site looking, as I always do, for filmmakers of color. While I didn’t view all the short films, I did watch this one:
Steps
A Short by Marissa Jo Cerar, Barney Cheng, Cindy Fang, Mariscela Mendez and Seung Hyun Yoo.
A young girl, abandoned as an infant, reflects about the steps people take each day and wonders what could have happened to her if a stranger never “stepped” in her direction.
I mean, how can you resist a film in which the protagonist is a little black girl photographer? You can vote for it (and watch the others) here.
