Re: LEAPFROG (a bit of the other) GRAND MATRON ARMY
Leapfrog (a bit of the other) grand matron army presents the female body in conversation with archetype, child’s play, allegory and myth. Positioned at the intersection of race and class we consider the relationship between desire, objectification, privilege and class mobility. At the same time we deconstruct the female protagonist as one of several means for expanding the narrative of the Black Atlantic.
Inspired by photographers Samuel Fosso and Claude Cahun, and in consideration of the scholarship of Stewart Hall, this work in progress was realized in collaboration with Pascale Obolo, Natacha Bernette, Tamara Faniot, Sarah Bernstien -(Paris posse) Andreas Vlachakis, David Tlale, and my darling Feisel D -(Jozi crew). Production of this work was made possible during residencies sponsored by Cultures France and Gallery Momo.
