Thanks for the links, Carla. Unfortunately, I'm not surprised at this. The racism and classism at work here are so incredibly odious.
When Katrina first happened, one of the first things I thought of was how quickly and by what evil weasel-like tricks developers and their friends would set out to "whiten-up" New Orleans. Just when I think I'm being a conspiracy nut, it comes true.
Carla, you truly have the most amazing and extensive online "library" in black visual culture that i have EVER come across. It's absolutely wonderful.
