when worlds collide

I work for a corporation. L.P., LLC, and all that. The Man. Yeah, sellout. They hire people constantly; it seems at least every week we get a list of names of new employees, and I routinely check them out since they hire a lot of artists. Last week they sent out a bio on a new hire who "is a writer and visual artist...wrote her thesis on race and advertising in American television...currently enrolled in the Ph.D. program in American Studies at NYU where she is continuing her work on race and visual culture."
