These are all family photographs taken in New Orleans, so they are my mother's paternal and maternal families. I also included my grandfather's bicycle permit and his poll tax receipts as a reminder of the kinds of restrictions in mobility or voting, for example, that black people faced then and that were echoed during and after Katrina.
