pet peeve #2
Okay, I know this seems trivial, but I work in a standard office building. On the 38th floor, so you know there are a lot of folks up in here. Adults, presumably. Grown folks.
So tell me, please, who in the crispy hell repeatedly pulls toilet paper from the roll and when it tears off in small bits just lets it drop to the floor? What kind of adult woman does this? Does she do this at home? Does she just let everything fall to the ground that she has no use for? It's such a grossly disrespectful thing to do to the cleaning people, as if to say, it's not enough that you have to clean a friggin' bathroom after strangers--pick up these bits of paper I dropped and couldn't be bothered to pick up myself. If I ever see who's doing this, I might not be able to restrain myself. To use my favorite new saying, that's just darksided.
Whew. That's been bothering me for a long time.

That is disrespectful and just plain nasty. I fear for the slobby-ass woman who crosses your path, my dear.
It's probably the same type of person who doesn't wash their hands either. Hygiene, people, hygiene!
my dear i love you, rather than write on such trivia, take this energy and make art. you sound bitter.
Dear Anonymous,
I probably love you, too, but as with art, we respond to the worlds we inhabit, and this just happens to be mine. Besides, disrespecting the working class is never trivial, and though I have been "making art," I would never agree that making art is more important than respecting another human being, especially in their labor.
I believe that this is not trivial, but rather a classic example of the perverse sense of entitlement that some folks have. You know, it's not the occasional dropping of paper or the missing of the trashcan with your papertowel and having it land on the floor, it's the constant disregard for the labor it creates for others, for the workers who clean the bathroom. And it's fucking gross for anyone else who's going into the hopper.
I know for a fact I'm bitter about that shit. YOU ARE THROWING TRASH ON THE GROUND IN A BATHROOM THAT SOMEONE ELSE HAS TO CLEAN, ASSHOLES!
Of course, I am worked up because this is coming on the tail end of a day where I saw 3 adults just throw trash on the ground here in South Philly. Adults. People! Stop acting like assholes! I'm going to make some art about that and my piece will be punching someone dead in the face when they throw their empty chip wrapper in front of my house!
ok, I know that's a little harsh
Yeah, ZS, Deirdre thought my reaction to anonymous was overreacting, but I disagree. It's exactly about that kind of disrespect, and I especially hate it when it's enacted by people who are privileged, which is how I would characterize anyone who's working in this building and using the bathroom on this floor.
