The YWCA at UC Berkeley in collaboration with photographer Shelia Turner presents
“ANTICIPATING” a series of black and white, color and mixed media photographs representing imaginative investigation and intimate storytelling.
This collection of photographs represent excerpts of three separate exhibitions, the first, “resting my eyes”, is a collection of black and white photographs reflecting the photographers intimate look for self in Ghana, West Africa. The “Tent Revival”, second in the series, bears witness to the Christian’s spiritual belief in the power of the Holy Spirit. Finally, included is a series of black and white photographs, presented in hand made frames from seasoned, exploring the nostalgia associated with the North American south, specifcally Columbus, Georgia. This exhibition reflects the passion and excitement characteristic within the documenntary genre of photography.
Ms. Turner is a current graduate student in the Master’s program of Social Documentation at the University of California Sanrta Cruz. Her documentary style photographic studies reflect a hybrid of aesthetic value and social impact.
