Gente e Pietre –
Italy and the U.S. , A Closer Look, featuring photography by Kyle Dillehay and Alice Di Certo , will be on view March 26 through May 11 at The Gallery at Tacoma Community College .

Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Admission is free.
An opening reception is slated for 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. April 18.

Di Certo was born in Italy. Her photographs of people and places represent a visual exploration of the U.S. “I am fascinated by the diversity, the habits and costumes of people of different regions, by the traditional festivals and the many activities that bond, or in some cases separate, communities,” she said. “This is what this body of work is about: my vision of the U.S. ” Di Certo is TCC’s art studio technician. She holds a master’s degree in art history from Georgia State University, and bachelor’s and master’s degrees in art history and Italian literature from Ca’ Foscari University in Italy. Her work has been exhibited in Washington , Georgia and Italy.

Dillehay'’s sculptural and photographic work focuses on issues related to the environment and the impact of human society on the world. He has been exploring the Four Corners region of the U.S. and the southwestern region of Italy . “This investigation, which began as inspiration for my sculptural work, has resulted in the ongoing production of the photographic body of work presented in this show,” he said. Dillehay is a member of the art faculty at TCC. He holds a master of fine arts degree in sculpture from Georgia State University, and a bachelor of fine arts degree in sculpture and photography from Auburn University. His work has been exhibited in Florida , Georgia , Alabama , Kansas and Oregon .

The Gallery at TCC provides a venue for artistic expression from all world cultures and periods in the his to ry of art, and enhances the learning experience for students and the community. It includes a shop where ceramics, jewelry, cards and pho to graphs by local artists can be purchased.
