Please join us as we celebrate the very first exhibition of veteran journalist, Hip Hop activist and Media Assassin, Mr. Harry Allen. Part of the Permanent Record will include images created by Mr. Allen 20 years ago before he began his venerable career as a journalist and essayist. These never before seen images present the hip hop community and urbanity as it was lived in the 80s, a time of blight, beauty and expansion.
About Harry Allen
As the originator of the phrase, 'Don't Believe The Hype,' Harry Allen has been one of the most prolific contemporary journalists and essayists of the past 20 years. The designated Media Assassin for hip hop giants, Public Enemy, Allen has been described as one of hip hop culture's most original thinkers. Allen has penned culture-altering stories on race, politics and hip hop for the City Sun, Village Voice, Vibe, The Source, Essence, Newsday, among many other publications.
